The Wooden Dear
The beginning of the voice-over for the short film The Wooden Dear, co-written with Anastasis Panagis Meletis. In this segment, the main character confesses the abuse she has endured, weaving her experiences together with reflections on plant life and hunting, creating a poetic and unsettling meditation on violence, vulnerability, and the natural world.

Δεν είπα τίποτα
Όπως όταν ο ήλιος σου καίει τα μάτια,
αλλά δεν κάνεις κάποια κίνηση να φορέσεις τα γυαλιά ηλίου σου, γιατί ποια είσαι εσύ που θα τα βάλεις μαζί του;
Σκέψου ένα φυτό. Τι θα έκανε αν το έκοβαμ; Πως θα ένιωθε; Τι θα έλεγε; Τίποτα.
Τα περισσότερα ζώα αποφεύγουν το στρες, κρύβονται.
Το φυτό πρέπει να προσαρμοστεί και να επιβιώσει όντας ακινητο, δεν έχει την πολυτέλεια να φύγει.
Εισπνοή εκπνοή…
Ριζωμένα, ακίνητα, παθητικά
Αλλά ό,τι δεν κινείται, δεν σημαίνει ότι δεν είναι ζωντανό.
Υπάρχουν τρεις στρατηγικές των φυτών:
υπάρχουν οι ανταγωνιστές·
υπάρχουν αυτά τα οποία είναι ανθεκτικά στην καταπόνηση και στο στρες·
και αυτά που είναι ανθεκτικά στη διαταραχή·
στο να χαθεί ζωντανή βιομάζα, στο ζώο που θα τα φάει, στον άνθρωπο που θα περπατήσει πάνω τους .
Βγαίνουν έξω
Με κλαδευτήρια, τσεκούρια και αλυσοπρίονα
Τοξικά χημικά και στοχεύουν
Κόβουν, συλλέγουν, ψεκάζουν

Until it’s all over
I said nothing
Just like when the sun burns your eyes,
but you make no move to put on your sunglasses, because who are you to dare face him?
Think of a plant. What would it do if it was cut? How would it feel? What would it say? Nothing.
Most animals tend to avoid stress, they hide.
A plant has to adapt and survive standing still, it doesn’t have the privilege of running away.
Inhale, exhale…
Rooted, immobile, passive
But what is not moving, is not necessarily dead.
There are three plant strategies:
there are competitors;
there are those resistant to strain and stress;
and there are those which are resilient to disruption;
to loss of living biomass, to being eaten by an animal, to being stepped on by humans.
They step out
With leafcutters, axes and chainsaws
Toxic chemicals and take aim
They cut down, collect, spray
